Description
The Radiator Cap keeps the coolant in the radiator during expansion. The cap also helps to raise the boiling point of the water in the cooling system.
HOW IT WORKS
The radiator cap is screwed onto the radiator fill opening to seal and pressurize the engine cooling system while the engine is running. When the engine is off and the cooling system is depressurized, the cap can be removed to add coolant during scheduled maintenance or when required.
WHY IT MATTERS
The radiator helps prevent the engine from overheating by transferring excess heat from the coolant fluid into the air. When the coolant heats up, it expands and increases pressure. The radiator cap helps maintain pressure and coolant levels by allowing excess coolant to enter the expansion recovery tank during this process.
