Description
The Nut is used with bolts or studs to fasten various parts to the engine.
HOW IT WORKS
Nuts are fasteners with a threaded hole in the middle. They use a combination of friction, deformation, stretching, and compression to fasten parts together with the help of a bolt.
The nut is designed to increase break-loose torque. This makes the nut extremely difficult to loosen once properly torqued. The nut’s upper threads are distorted, allowing it to self-lock and be resistant to forces such as vibration.
WHY IT MATTERS
The nut is necessary to retain the assemblies. It prevents components from loosening and causing unnecessary damage to the engine.
